Rodeo Kick off Party
Come to the Rock’n U Rodeo Kick off party at the Best Western Golden Lion
on May 2, 1998. There will be room specials offered by the Golden Lion.
The room price is $59.00 single or double occupancy. So plan to have
baby-sitter’s lined up. This is a good time to enjoy dancing to country
tunes. Our DJ is Steven Primera! Who knows he may even throw in a
little rock’n roll. This is a good time to exchange rodeo stories and just
to relax and have a good time. There will be a cover charge of $10.00
for each person attending the kickoff party. We will have hors dervoures
prepared by the Best Western Golden Lion, part of the cover charge will
pay for the food and the other portion will go toward the 1998 awards for
Rock’n U Rodeo. Last years awards party was a huge success. This
kick off party will be a party you don’t want to miss!! Don’t be left out
in the rain without your slicker! Be there like a duck on a june bug!
If you couldn’t tell I have a couple of cowboy’s sitting here helping me
create this article. Even Mr. Big Bird, or Rock’n U Stock Contractor,
Reggie Strout, will be able to get off the floor and attend this year.
JERRI MANN CLINIC
I was sent a flyer on a Barrel Racing and Horsemanship Clinic to be held
May 30th and 31st from 9:00am to 6:00pm. The clinic fee is $200.00 if
paid prior to May 15, or $250.00 after. To observe the cost is $100.00.
The clinic is limited to 12-15 riders and lunch will be provided. For
further information please contact Charlie Willis at 376-2668 or
376-3138. This sounds like a good opportunity to tune up your horse
and yourself.

"Top 10 rodeo superstitions"
by Rick Overall Ottawa Sun
A saddle bronc rider always puts the right foot in the stirrup first.
Never kick a paper cup thrown down at a rodeo.
Cowgirls often wear different colored socks on each foot for luck.
Don’t compete with change in your pocket because that’s all you might win.
Never put your hat on bed---you may be seriously injured or killed.
Eating a hotdog before the competition brings good luck.
Never read your horoscope on competition day.
Never eat peanuts or popcorn in the arena.
Always shave before the competition.
Never wear yellow in the arena—it will bring bad luck.
Updated Changes in Rock'n U Rodeo
Reggie may be out work-ing some of the
season this year. Here are a few changes that
will occur while he is away... Arena Director is
Dave Buenafe. Glenn Mills will be the head
clown. Bobby "D" Smith. will be in charge of the
arena loading and set-ting up. Bryan Larson will
be our rodeo announcer. The books are going
to be open Monday through Wednesday. Call
back to find out when you are up will be on
Thursday before 6:00 pm. Dick Moriarty is
going to be out looking for calves for calf roping
and ribbon roping this year. Randy Chivers is
going to be supplying the steers at the Rock'n
U Rodeo's. The arena director will line up the
qualified judges at the rodeos. Pick up men
are Dick Moriarty and Char-lie MacDonald. The
stock contractor wants one sec-tion of timed
events. We are still working on ob-taining
sponsors for Rock'n U Direct sponsor-ship and
Rock' n U Awards sponsorship. If you know
someone that would like to be a sponsor and
get on the Internet! as well as many more
features let us know!! I’m getting excited that
this year rodeos are getting closer. The way
our weather has been it seems like summer is
already here. I look forward to the camping
trips and the excitement of who is going to win!
Its great watching everyone go out and
participate in one of the oldest and fastest
grow-ing sports. Tell your family and friends to
come out and watch our shows and join in on
the fun. If you would like to be added to our
